Explore Your MetroParks

Enjoy family fun and recreation within nearly 5,000 acres of green space in eleven parks open daily at MetroParks. The many amenities available to enhance your park experience include natural and paved trails for hiking, biking, running, or walking. There are also numerous play areas, fishing spots, reservable facilities, shelters and camp sites, a dog park, as well as a reservable Athletic Complex. Water recreation is made possible through creeking as well as rentable kayaks, canoes, paddleboats, and stand-up paddleboards. Regularly scheduled programs and FUN special events will also add to your enjoyment of the parks.

  • Things that Flutter: Monarch & Butterfly Hunt

    September 25, 2021 11:00am - 1:00pm

    Join us for Great Outdoor Weekend, hosted by Green Umbrella! LetÂ’s search for butterflies! This park is full of wonderful plants for pollinators, and tons of butterflies! Join MetroParks and Bob Nuhn on a hunt for these fluttering beauties! Bob has had the butterfly "bug" ever since childhood and has led a local butterfly count for years - even submitting his findings to the North American Butterfly Association. This program is FREE and open to all ages. Registration is requested and walk-ins are welcome!

  • Amazing Animals

    September 25, 2021 2:00pm - 3:30pm

    Animals are amazing! Some can run fast, while others can fly or swim. They all have incredible adaptations for survival and have so much to teach us! Join in and learn about different types of animals while visiting with live animal ambassadors. This free program is open to all ages! Registration is requested so we know you're coming.   • Senses in the Dark - Great Outdoor Weekend

    September 25, 2021 7:30pm - 9:00pm

    How do our five senses work in the dark? Explore Rentschler Forest MetroPark with us at night time as we do fun activities on an interactive hike! We will be using our night vision during this night hike, so flashlights are not needed. Registration is REQUIRED by Friday, 9/24/21 for this event. This program is free and open to all ages.

  • Photo Walks - Tips for Shooting Fall Colors

    September 29, 2021 6:00pm - 7:30pm

    Join us as we wander around Chrisholm Farm in search of stunning fall colors and capture photographs of the Historic Farmstead. Photographer, Susan Milinkovich, will give tips for capturing fall colors and share a little about how to use color theory in your photography. Bring your iPhone, point-and-shoot or DSLR camera - no photography experience required. FREE and open to all ages 13 & up! Registration is required by 9/28/2021.
