Beaver Moon

It's time for another full moon! The Beaver Moon, will reach peak illumination on Monday, November 30th at the very early morning hour of 4:30 a.m.  Unless your are a super early riser, plan to look for the very nearly full moon on Sunday night.

Native Americans & colonial Americans gave November's full moon it's name because it is during this time of year that beavers start to take shelter after storing enough food for the upcoming winter.  It is also the time of year that traps were set to collect a supply of warm furs for the winter.

Besides Beaver Moon, this month's full moon is also known as the Frost Moon and the Freezing Moon. It's easy to guess where those names came from!

The next, and last 2020 full moon, the Cold Moon, will take place on December 29th.
