Announcing the Ohio Trails Vision - #OhioTrailsVision
Recently, Mary Mertz, Director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), officially launched the next trail plan for the State of Ohio at the Buckeye Trail Fest on the banks of the Maumee River. If you are interested in learning how Ohioans are working to build amazing multi-use trails, hiking trails, motorized trails, mountain bike trails, equestrian trails and water trails check out the plan.
The document is available at trails.ohiodnr.gov.
MetroParks is especially excited to help Director Mertz announce this plan for recreational trails in Ohio because this plan will help all Ohioans-Including those in Butler County work together to continue to build a world-class trail system.
To all trail enthusiasts who currently live in Butler County it will not come as a surprise that MetroParks is already on the "Trail to Success" when it comes to our focus on trails. The Ohio Trails Vision confirms that MetroParks initiatives are inline with a larger initiative within the entire State of Ohio, which is fantastic news!
It is exciting to see that many of the trail projects MetroParks is involved with in Butler County are mentioned in the new document. Here in the Great Miami River Valley all residents and teams working on trails should be proud to be leading the State in miles of paved Multipurpose trails available.
Even so there are still many opportunities to further enhance connectivity via trails in the county. Know that MetroParks will continue to work diligently to identify funding sources, partners and collaborations that make sense to meet expectations that the trails network in this part of Ohio will become second to none nationally.
