MetroParks Winter Hike Series Is Back in 2026

Dec 30, 2025, 11:20 AM by Katie Ely-Wood

Shake off those winter blues and embrace the season with MetroParks of Butler County’s 3rd Annual Winter Hike Series! This family-friendly event invites people of all ages to explore the beauty of nature during the colder months while staying active and building connections with fellow hikers.

Explore a different park each week with a MetroParks Naturalist and embark on a roughly three-mile guided hike to learn more about the park’s history and natural features. Following the walk, enjoy a hot soup lunch, perfect for warming up and continuing conversations with new friends.

"Winter is a hard time of year to be active, and attending a scheduled event every week that makes exercise enjoyable is a great way to boost your physical and mental health when we’re not as motivated to get outside," said Suzanne Roth, MetroParks of Butler County’s Director of Programming. Event Details: All hikes will take place from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

•January 10: Rentschler Forest MetroPark, Fairfield Township
•January 17: Timberman Ridge MetroPark, Ross Township
•January 24: Meadow Ridge MetroPark, Middletown
•January 31: Governor Bebb MetroPark, Okeana

Registration: Pre-registration is required for the Winter Hike Series. The cost is $10 per person for each hike, and registration includes hot soup and drinks afterward. Children ages four and under can participate for free. Click here to register and learn more.
