MetroParks Vision Plans are general depictions of potential park enhancements that could occur over ten years or more. They are used to communicate the vision for a particular park to potential grant funders, sponsors, and the public. Plans are adopted by the Board of Park Commissioners following a public engagement process that unfolds over several months to a year. The timing of when the enhancements shown on the plans are implemented depends on the availability of funding and how they are balanced with other MetroParks priorities. In most cases, further studies or designs will be needed before work begins on a particular park enhancement.

The Vision Planning process evolves over several months, and starts with receiving feedback from the public to determine what people would like to see in their park in the future. After public feedback has been collected, a draft of the Vision Plan is created. The public is then invited to give additional feedback on the draft of the Vision Plan. After public feedback on the draft has been collected, a second draft of the Vision Plan is presented for additional public feedback. After further changes are made to the second draft of the Vision Plan to incorporate additional public feedback, the plan will be presented to the Board of Park Commissioners for adoption as an official park plan.
