MetroParks Celebrates 70 Years with ID70 Program Kicking Off at Gilmore Ponds MetroPark
MetroParks of Butler County is turning 70, and the celebration takes flight on Friday, June 6, with a special birding program at Gilmore Ponds MetroPark as part of the yearlong ID70 series. The event runs from 7:00 to 8:00 PM and begins at the park’s Bilstein Entrance.
The ID70 initiative honors MetroParks’ 70th anniversary by spotlighting 70 of the most fascinating elements of the local park experience. Each of the ten themed programs throughout 2025 will highlight seven unique natural or historical features. Attend all ten to uncover a full collection of 70 surprising and educational insights into the parks' ecology and legacy.
ID70: Birds invites nature lovers aged 13 and up to join MetroParks’ outdoor educators on a guided trail walk. Participants will learn to identify seven of the most beloved bird species that call MetroParks home.
“This is a great opportunity to deepen your connection to local nature while celebrating MetroParks’ incredible 70-year legacy,” said MetroParks of Butler County’s Director of Programming and Education, Suzanne Roth.
The program is free, but registration is required. Participants are encouraged to wear waterproof shoes and bring insect repellent. Click here to register and learn more about the ID70 series and upcoming programs.
