Celebrate the Season 19th Century Style at Winter in the Village

How did early Ohioans spend long winter nights before electricity, streaming shows, or central heat? Find out at Winter in the Village—a special evening event at Governor Bebb MetroPark’s Pioneer Village on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m.
During this immersive, self-guided experience, guests will stroll through the historic Pioneer Village to see how settlers more than 200 years ago stayed warm, entertained, and connected through the winter months. Fires will crackle inside the log cabins, and MetroParks educators dressed in period attire will demonstrate traditional seasonal crafts and pastimes from Ohio’s early days.
Visitors can enjoy the cozy glow of firelight, take in the sights and sounds of the 19th century, and warm up with a cup of complimentary hot cider as they explore. “Winter in the Village is a wonderful time to experience the atmosphere of a winter night long ago, warmed by the fires and welcoming spirit of the villagers,” said MetroParks’ Programming & Events Outdoor Educator Nick Lavoie.
